2020 Honda Civic Hatchback Interior Changes, Engine – All the sensing does come standard on this car which is nice but we will say that the blind-spot monitoring. If you’re looking for it is not available instead of each signal right you get that stupid Lane watch camera which is definitely very behind what Hyundai, Kia puts in their blind view monitor. You know blind spot cameras and whatnot we think Honda should have upgraded this or at least offered You know blind-spot monitoring. On the Civic it’s one of the reasons what makes this car a little bit more dated.
The surprised the sport doesn’t give you a little bit thicker bolstering but again the SI is there to give you more of that sporty or feel If you want to spoil your 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback Interior Changes, Engine. The SI actually is still cheaper than this particular one that we driving, But it is missing some features that. This car has in terms of tech features, This car is still missing things like memory seats, heads-up display, no cooled seats, no pay, no sunroof.
So the Civic is still a tremendous value it’s still the best driving handling machine out there. It’s still one of the quickest, it’s really just the interior where it’s a little bit of a letdown. But it really depends on what are is important to you. If you want the biggest screen you want the best user interface for the infotainment system.
Obviously this is not the one you’re gonna want but it is the best driving, it’s a Honda Civic. So it’s got a reputation for reliability and quality. It’s got a comfortable cabin, it’s got a good ride quality a quiet cabin as well.
We think there’s a lot to like with the 2020 civics. Then it’s gonna stay interesting to understand how Honda grasps this car up in the next couple of years. When they finally do give this thing a full redesign probably in the year 2021.
2020 Honda Civic Hatchback Engine Changes
Now Honda has long been known as a maker of incredible engines. So let’s start underneath the hood of the 2020 Civic. Now the current tenth generation Civic when it came out back in 2016, it was already a formidable player. It introduced a turbocharged power for the first time.
The 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback Interior Changes, Engine comes standard with Honda’s 1.5 liters turbocharged, four-cylinder engine with direct injection. It does not have VTEC which is again their patented variable valve timing and lift system. This engine was quite a controversy because it’s a small displacement engine without VTEC but despite that in the hatchback. In the sport rims, it makes a hundred and 80 horsepower due to that new unique exhaust and 162 pound-feet of torque.
Those numbers put the Civic near at the top of the class, and it makes this one of the quickest compact cars. You can buy that’s a nonluxury vehicle with this CVT transmission, you should expect to get to 60 in around under 7 seconds is what Honda says and the beauty about Honda. They are saving the manual transmission is one of the few manufacturers that are keeping manuals around.
CVT Transmission Options
The new edition for 2020 is the availability of a 6-speed manual. In this sport touring hatchback previously you could only get it with the base or sports line. You can still get it with the Sport trim but now it’s available with the fully loaded sport-touring wall. And with fuel economy with the manual transmission, you can get this thing up to nearly 40 mpg.
This particular hatchback model is a little bit less it’s rated at 29 in the city 35 on the highway. The earlier thing about this engine though is premium gas is recommended for maximum performance when you combine that to it with 12 and 1/2 gallon gas tanks. You’re looking at around 350 to 400 mile Philip’s but overall this is still a very efficient car for its class all civics are still front-wheel drive as this one sits it weighs around 3,000 pounds.
The one thing that Honda we wish they would do is adding a little bit more color in the interior of their vehicle as our tester, The polished metal metallic with this black interior. This is kind of the only color combination you can get it’s just dark. Some of the competitors like the new 2020 Center that we just saw in LA. Offer you know lot brighter color combinations the same with the Corolla they offer like a two-tone color.
The other than, the interior hasn’t really changed, they have made some upgrades. The sport-touring has an 8-way power driver’s seat but there are no two people are there’s, no lumbar support and there’s also no memory seating. You can’t get memory seating on a Civic whereas some competitors do offer that.
The passenger seat is now a four-way power-adjustable leader. Before you should just be a manual only the steering wheel looks identical, the dashlets identical. Honestly, we think this is probably where the Civic looks the most dated is the interior. Even though it has some decent tech features The new Honda Civic Hatchback starting to seem a little bit old. The sport also gives you those alloy pedals which is nice.
When you get it in shut the door, The door still sounds relatively solid not the most solid sounding door. That we’ve heard in a segment now but when you want to start the vehicle off you know how to do that, just put your foot on the brake, push the start/stop button to fire up the engine.
Interior Changes and Material Quality
Now for 2019 Honda did add a volume knob there and they also changed a couple of the buttons but the rest of the infotainment screen is pretty much identical. Most of the Civic’s will come with this LCD display. The instrument panel which is nice, there’s some too traditional you know analog displays on the left. On the left, on the right, It does include Android auto and apple car play which is nice but this screen is definitely.
The starting to look up a little bit small this is a 7-inch touchscreen display you’ll get this display. If you go for the sport trims enough only the base LX hatchback will just include a 5-inch display without Android auto and apple car play.
In terms of the material, it’s a soft touch injection molded plastic. There’s some interesting material plastic, that tries to look like carbon fiber. It’s got some fake stitching or it’s a soft touch injection molded plastic. It’s all hard touch plastic and then, this feels a little bit on the cheap side. Where some competitors may have stitched that with actual leather. This is also a soft-touch plastic with a plastic accented door handle. It’s slightly padded over there, where there’s a nice area, where you can you know put your hand there to close the door. The windows are one-touch up down for just the front windows.
2020 Honda Civic Hatchback Lighting and Sound System
In terms of the lighting, it’s also very dim in there. We mean in terms of accent lighting Honda doesn’t really offer any. There’s like a little red LED that kind of shines down there but that’s pretty much, it some of the competitors like the new Jetta offer like ten different color combinations. Where you could change and customize the interior lighting.
The audio system on this sport touring is a 12 speaker 540 watches Honda’s brain did sounds tomb which sounds pretty much average. If you were looking for an even better sound system on it doesn’t offer that you’ll have to go to the competition for that. This steering wheel still has a lever that’s way too far down. It’s a little hard to find but it does offer tilt-telescoping with a good.
Easy to Use
Just field of adjustability if you’re looking for a blind spot monitoring, it’s not instead. If you just signal right, Honda still gives you that stupid Lane watch camera which really needs to be upgraded because we found there are times. Where we were using the GPS or the apple car play for example and every time. We signal right it would turn that screen off, When we needed the GPS direction, so again we really wish Honda which is a blind spot monitoring to the Civic still not available.
The Honda Sensing is standard which basically includes Lane keep assist adaptive cruise control with low speed follow automatic emergency braking collision mitigation braking muscle. The Honda calls it or departure mitigation, that all is standard which is nice there’s a new auto-dimming rearview mirror. That was added for 2020 which is also good if you put the vehicle into reverse and also gives you Just a backup camera with three different views no 360 camera, no parking sensors. Then, again those features are available in other parts of the morgue market but not there on these Civic.
This infotainment system hasn’t changed, basically, there’s the embedded GPS which is kind of like a Garmin. The Garmin based system which is it’s just fine, Honda again added this for this service in civic about four years ago. The new Honda Civic Hatchback starting to watch a little touch old, this is just very old and it’s also very slow. So that’s an example of the ideas why We hope Honda had added the newer infotainment system from the Accord.
If you’re looking for cooled seats, it’s not available no factory wireless charging. It is a dealer-installed option but not from the actual factory this controls the CVT transmission, it’s a very traditional shifter with PRN D Then S, there’s a sport mode, electronic parking brake. There’s a center console with plenty of storage. These cup holders will pull out on the slide out of the way, so that’s very nice.
The seats are it’s definitely still comfortable and supportive. They are a little bit hard we like the look of them but they don’t offer any you know cooled seat. No memory C which is disappointing for this trim level. The sunroof as there is included on the x-terms and up there’s no Spanos under substandard sunder.
Then, over there the glove compartment at least it’s lit up but it’s not damped. It just kind of cheaply falls, it’s not lined with felt but it is good-sized. So overall the interior the Civic hasn’t really changed much really. The biggest thing they should have changed was an infotainment system and added maybe cooled seats or powered. Our memory seats for the driver’s side. But other than, that it does have some nice features especially. When you look at the price and you can still kind of get into this interior and know how to use everything.
2020 Honda Civic Hatchback Backseat Room
The backseat room in the Civic hatchback also remains one of the better options in the segment. When you get back there, Honda has thrown in some pretty nice features. There’s around 36-inches of legroom which is actually about an inch less than. What you get in the sedan about the same as what you get in the Civic Coupe. So in terms of headroom, this is good. we 5 foot 7, so we not terribly tall.
The floor is not completely flat back there which surprised. We, there’s also no rear-seat air vents which also surprised us. But you do have to level heated back seats there which is nice. Then the materials back there are kind of hard touch plastic. The Honda also nicely throws in a nice armrest there with two cupholders. So overall the back seat accommodations are good but just remember the sedan offers a smidge more rear-seat legroom.
